Bement and Cerro Gordo cross country teams compete
The Bement and Cerro Gordo high school cross country teams traveled to The Great Pumpkin Patch just south of Arthur for the annual meet held on September 25 hosted by the Arthur Lovington Atwood Hammond Knights. Both girls and boys toured a 3-mile course that wound around the fields of the patch.
Schools competing included Bement, Cerro Gordo, Okaw Valley as well as newcomers Sullivan and Iroquois West. The ladies kicked off the evening festivities at 5:00pm on a spectacular evening with clear skies and comfortable seasonal temperatures.
Caroline Hill ran a 23:45 coming in 8th place and fellow teammate Haley Garrett finished 14th with a time of 25:43 for the Bement girls’ team.
Cerro Gordo’s Hannah Hayes finished 16th running a 27:38.
For Cerro Gordo Dylan Howell finished 5th coming in at 17:13 and fellow teammates Collin Warren placed 22nd with a time of 19:03, Luke Dobson finished 32nd at 20:58, Hunter Rincker placed 35th coming in at 21:05, Camren Brown with a time of 24:24 placed 42 and Kyle Dobson rounded out the Bronco’s times at 30:30 for 46th place.
For Bement, Jacob Stoerger ran a 18:58 for 21st place followed by Jessee Quick in 29th with a time of 19:57, Kade Alumbaugh came in 37th at 21:40, Evan Fogerson with a time of 21:45 placed 38th, Curtis Kalk finished 41st at 23:02 and Aidan Marshall was 44th with a time of 26:31.
