Robert E. Carlson Sr

Robert E. Carlson Sr, 81, of Decatur, IL, passed away September 25, 2020 at Villa Clara Post Acute in Decatur, IL.

Robert was born May 2, 1939 in Decatur, IL, the son of, William and Alta (Finch) Carlson. He married Christine Yoder on May 29, 1993 in Long Creek, IL.

Robert was a farmer and retired sheet metal fabricator. He was employed with Union Iron works and Kopetz Manufacturing.

During his leisure, Robert enjoyed hunting, fishing and working around the farm.

Surviving are his wife, Christine; son, Robert E. Carlson Jr. (Carol Carlson) of Decatur, IL; daughter, Vicki S. Gaffron (Mark) of Forsyth, IL, Penny J. Powell (James) of Forsyth, IL, Lori A Conner (Neal Glass) of Decatur, IL; step-sons, Andrew Clarkson (Jessica) Oakley, IL, Brad Clarkson of Glen Carbon, IL; step-daughter, Nancy Clarkson of Silver springs, MD; siblings, William Carlson (Elsie) of Puritsville, WV, Chuck Carlson (Kyra) of Decatur, IL, Tim Carlson (Nena) of Baton Rouge, LA, Mary Jane Cramm (Bruce) of Decatur, IL, Rebecca J. Lowe of Decatur, IL, Carolyn Paceley (Art) of Decatur, IL; grandchildren, Brandon Carlson, Adam Carlson, Jimmy Powell, Justin Powell, Devin Conner, Natalie Glass, Bruce Glass Jr., Anna Clarkson and several great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at South shores Christian Church. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Casual attire requested.

Burial will be at Point Pleasant Cemetery.
