ALAH Cross Country Team kicks off season in Sullivan
The ALAH cross country season kicked off Thursday, August 27 at Sullivan’s Tabor Park 3 mile course. This opener provided met expectations as well as pleasant surprises.
All Stater Layton Hall opened his Senior season with the win leading his team across the finish in 16:32.
The team captain paced sophomore Logan Beckmier to a 2nd place finish running 16:39th.
Sophomore Lyle Adcock continued his improvement from last season finishing 4th in 17:51.
Junior Jace Green opened his 3rd season with a solid effort finishing 6th in 18:03.
Jake Adcock opens his sophomore campaign running a PR of 18:47 to finish the Knights top 5 scoring.
Jacob Duzan was the 6th Knight across the finish running 18:59 in his inaugural cross country effort.
Connor Edmonds rounded out the varsity boys efforts with an excellent PR by over a minute running 19:08 while finishing 13th overall.
The boys team dominated their portion of the event scoring 21 points. Teutopolis goes 2nd with 59.
The Lady Knights provided the biggest surprise of the day.
Returning only one experienced runner, this group of athletes surprised the gathering by dominating the girls competition scoring 22 points. Teutopolis finished 2nd with 33.
Charley Condill opened her debut cross country season with an excellent effort finishing 2nd to T-towns Jessica Runde. Sophomore Condill crossed the finish in 22:33.
Close behind in 3rd was senior Makenzie Brown. Her maiden effort resulted in a solid time of 22:46.
Sophomore Alisha Frederick was 4th overall with a great effort of 23:21.
Junior Sarah Rafferty is the 4th Knight and 6th overall to finish clocking a quite credible 23:53.
Returning letter winner, sophomore Emma Edwards finished 7th overall to complete the Lady Knights top 5.
Makenzie Bowles came home 17th to finish the Knights efforts in 28:04.
For all the ladies but Edwards, this was the first time they’d seen a cross country meet much less run in one!
In the Open race, Knights dominated as well with two guys running their initial cross meet.
Freshman Jesus Corona wins this race with a great opener of 19:42.
Junior Reggie Edmonds showed great potential running to 2nd in 20:23.
The Knights jump on to a faster track Saturday at the St. Thomas More Sabre Corn Classic. Their foes will include the State #1 Class A team, Monticello, as well as top 5 team Olympia and state ranked PBL.
