Welcome Back….First Day of 20-21 School Year! Arthur CUSD #305 students returned to school for the first time on Wednesday, August 19 after leaving the buildings five months ago on March 13. Many new policies had to be implemented this year mandated by the Illinois Department of Public Health and the Illinois State Board of Education which include face coverings, social distancing, daily wellness screenings, lockers not allowed and remote learning options to name just a few. School begins at 8:00 am and dismisses at 1:30 pm five days a week with entrance procedures at different doors for the students. AGS Principal Sage Hale stated they were excited to have students back in the building and they had a wonderful first day as the teachers and staff worked hard to get them off to a good start.
Greeting first, second, and third graders at the west side entrance of the Arthur Grade School were Wanda Plank (Third Grade Aide), Lisa Feriozzi (First Grade), and Jennifer Schrock (Librarian). Miller Bus Service driver JJ Carter dropping off the bus students as they exit with their book bags, lunch totes and extra sacks filled with all their school supplies. The school district, for the safety of all students who ride the bus, has required that the bus driver must take each child’s temperature, drivers and students must wear a mask, limit seating with children other than siblings, stay in assigned seats, and practice social distancing when waiting for the bus.
