TAPS ACROSS AMERICA…The National Moment of Remembrance.

TAPS ACROSS AMERICA…The National Moment of Remembrance. The Arthur American Legion Post #479 participated in this nationwide event that took place on Monday, May 25 at 3:00 pm. Bugler and Post Commander Terry Ferchow played Taps’ at the HSHS St. Mary’s Medical Center and Dick Hein was the bugler at the Arthur Post Office location with Bill Crane and Steve Jurgens also in attendance. Over 2,200 participants joined in across the country to honor our veterans on Memorial Day. This American melody only has twenty-four notes but its clear, sad tones conjure up memories of loved ones lost, instill hope, and bring comfort and peace to the families and communities of those whom have served with honor. It is the song that gives us a lump in our throats, and brings tears to our eyes.
