The Arthur Medical Center will permanently their doors on Tuesday, June 30.
In a statement our office received last Wednesday from Dean Olsen, Media Relations Consultant for Memorial Health System in Springfield he stated, “The Arthur Medical Center will close June 30. We are working to refer patients to other providers and coordinate transition of care, including arranging for telehealth video visits when medically appropriate.”
Olsen continued, “Our organization also is engaging in outreach with the Amish community. Patients seeking copies of their records can call 217-876-2500. We thank our patients and the citizens of Arthur for the opportunity to assist families with their health-care needs.”
Patients of the facility received a letter informing them of the closing. Our office obtained a copy of the letter telling the Arthur patients they will have access to care at the Sullivan Medical Center located at 1220 W. Jackson Street in Sullivan. The full-service facility is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Like Arthur, the Sullivan facility is an extension of Decatur Memorial Hospital and an affiliate of Memorial Health System, which has total access to all patient’s current medical records from Arthur and DMH. It has served the residents of Sullivan and surrounding area for over two decades with primary care, laboratory, and imaging services.
Currently the Sullivan location has two providers, Robert Butts, MD, and Muhammad Tabatbaei, PA. Both have extensive experience in family and adult medicine.
For more information about transportation service from the Arthur area or to schedule an appointment at the Sullivan facility call 217/728-2042
No information has been provided on the future plans for the current staff, including Dr. Charles Ellington and Will Miller, PA.
