Atwood Apple Dumpling Festival Cancelled for 2020

It seems like every day or so we read about this or that activity being cancelled. It is discouraging to adults and youth alike.
The Atwood Chamber of Commerce made a decision last week to cancel the 2020 Apple Dumpling Festival because it is the responsible thing to do. Fairs, festivals, etc. are listed in Governor Pritzker’s Phase 5 of re-opening Illinois. These events don’t just happen overnight, there is a lot of planning that goes into each one. There is so much uncertainty right now, the chamber felt it was the proper thing to do.
Atwood has been fortunate with no COVID-19 cases that we are aware of, and we do not want to risk bringing it into town by having this event.
Entertainment and vendors that have already been booked have been notified of the cancellation, but encouraged to put it on their calendars for next year.
Hopefully COVID-19 will be just a memory by that time next year and the Apple Dumpling Festival will be better than ever.
The chamber members urged everyone to follow CDC guidelines and stay safe and stay well.
