Piatt County Fire Departments Bring Sounds of Hope to Communities

By Doris Elmore

Piatt County Fire Departments came together on Wednesday, April 22, at 7 p.m. to participate in support of EMS, fire, law enforcement, healthcare, food service, transportation and other essential industries keeping us functioning.

The fire departments stayed in their respective towns, but at exactly 7 p.m. all of them turned on their lights and sirens so residents would know they were paying their respects to the thousands all over the country in these positions.

Residents of each town were asked to have their porch/garage lights on, or just house lights to join in the event.

Some of the departments drove around town, some were joined by other residents for a parade, while others just stayed at the fire house.

Participating fire departments included: Atwood, Bement, Cerro Gordo, Cisco, Hammond, Monticello Fire & Rescue, Northern Piatt County and Mid-Piatt FPD.
