Muriel Jane Headley
Muriel Jane Headley, 89, of Chatham, Illinois, died at 10:30 p.m. on Friday, April 17, 2020, at the Villas of Hollybrook Assisted Living in Chatham.
Muriel was born September 7, 1930, in Chicago, the daughter of Arthur Zola and Genevieve Mae Yarrington Kremer. She was married to Harold Robert (Bob) Day of Atwood, Illinois for 31 years. He preceded her in death in 1979. Muriel was a member of the Congregational Christian Church in Atwood for many years, leading the Junior Choir and a member of the Senior Choir. Muriel was a member of Eastern Star as well as other Atwood community groups. Muriel, Bob, and his parents, Inscoe and Leola Day, owned and operated the Atwood Dry Cleaners for many years.
She married Robert Charles Headley on January 7, 1995, in Galesburg, IL. She was a faithful member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church and a dedicated member of the St. Louise de Marillac Guild in Chatham. She enjoyed weekly visits to the local Fit Club, crocheting and book clubs with her friends. She was a loving mother, grandmother and aunt and delighted in following the activities of her family.
She is preceded in death by her parents; son, Dion Day; brothers, Michael and Buddy Kremer; and sisters, Zoline McQueen and Marianne Hillier.
Muriel is survived by her husband, Robert Headley of Chatham; daughter, Kendal Stevens of Clearwater, FL; step-children, Philip (Sue) Headley of Galesburg, IL, John (Jean) Headley of Woodstock, IL, Jim Headley of Lexington, SC, and Cathy (Don) Scott of Springfield; daughter-in-law, Peggy Day of Tuscola, IL; six grandchildren: Doug Powers (Ohio), Brandon Moore (Florida), Tara Cook (Oregon), Marissa Riggenbach (Tuscola), Courtney Ingram (Arcola); seven step-grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
Cremation was provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center. Interment was at Mackville Cemetery.
