Have Your Lights on TONIGHT at 7 p.m.

By Doris Elmore
Staff Writer

Tonight, Wednesday, April 22, at 7 p.m. residents of Piatt County (including the Douglas County, side of Atwood), are asked to turn on their porch & garage lights, open their doors and/or windows, so all lights are visible, to join in an event by the Piatt County Fire Departments.

For many, the lights and sounds of a fire engine bring hope and relief…help is on the way. All fire departments in Piatt County will join in by opening their bay doors, pull out their trucks and rescue equipment, turning on their lights and sirens to offer the same hope for each of our communities and workers affected by the virus that causes COVID-19.

Everyone is encouraged to participate in supporting EMS, fire, law enforcement, healthcare, food service, transportation and other essential industries keeping us functioning.

Weather permitting, the fire trucks, etc. will drive around town. They are hoping to see nothing but lights, showing support for all, because We Are All in This Together.

Participating fire departments include: Atwood, Bement, Cerro Gordo, Cisco, Hammond, Monticello Fire & Rescue, Northern Piatt County and Mid-Piatt FPD.

Spread the word and show your support to these dedicated heroes that are all around us, be sure and have your lights on at 7 p.m. tonight!!!
