Mary Lee Warfel

Mary Lee Warfel, 81, of Arcola passed away in her home on May 11, 2019, with her family by her side.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 16, at Edwards Funeral Home, 221 East Main Street in Arcola. Dick Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Arcola Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 15, at the funeral home.

Mary Lee was born to parents Lee and Emelia Mae (Schultz) Moody on January 21, 1938, in Champaign. Mary Lee graduated from Unity High School in 1956 and married her high school sweetheart, John Warfel Jr. on April 26, 1957.

Mary Lee is survived by her husband of 62 years; her four children, Chris Warfel of Centralia, Sheri (Jeff) Shoemaker of Urbana, Joy (Michael) Holder of Kingston Springs, Tennessee, and Kent Warfel of Arcola; five grandchildren, Bryan (Katie) Clark, Tiffany Clark, Stephanie Clark, Adam Holder and Lauren Warfel; and two great-grandchildren, Aiden and Ellie Clark. She is also survived by Randy Wright, whom she fostered and raised through high school; her brother, Dave (Suzanne) Moody; sister, Dorothy (Larry) Spence; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Billy Moody; and son, Mark Warfel.

Mary Lee was a dedicated farmer’s wife and mother. She was active with many organizations and hobbies, including Home Extension, 4-H, sewing, cake decorating, and photography.

Some of her favorite times were spent traveling and camping with friends and family, as well as singing with the
church group from Kemp Church of Christ where she was a member for over 50 years.

She treasured the time spent with her grandchildren and enjoyed going to their activities and sporting events.
