A TRUE DAUGHTER. Daughters of the American Revolution Stephen A. Douglas Chapter hosted a ceremony on Sunday, May 12, in Arthur Cemetery. A large group gathered for the dedication of a plaque marking Florinda Wood Martin’s grave as the burial place of a “true daughter” of the American Revolution. Martin’s father, Alexander Wood of Virginia, was a Revolutionary War soldier. With the newly unveiled plaque are Stephen A. Douglas Regent Sheryll Herschberger, Illinois State Regent Gloria Flatholm, Stephen Decatur DAR member Cheryl Chamblin, and Illinois SAR President Richard Chamblin who is a fourth great-grandson of Florinda Wood Martin.
